DESCRIPTION:
BRUMA YCA -- A TIMELESS CLASSIC, PRESERVED WITH PURPOSE Some yachts are built to last. Very few survive as BRUMA has. Built in 1950 in Argentina to a design commissioned in 1947 by Eduardo Grimaldi and created by Niels Sorensen Viale, BRUMA YCA is a genuinely distinctive classic yacht, conceived around the principles of strength, safety, comfort and seaworthiness rather than fashion. Her design draws inspiration from the Nordic motor-fishing vessel tradition, giving her a character that is immediately recognisable: a robust double-ender, substantial displacement, generous accommodation and a highly functional sailing and motoring platform. At 19.90 metres, with a 5.32-metre beam and variable draft from 1.90 to 2.84 metres, she was designed to be both capable and versatile. What makes BRUMA particularly special, however, is not simply her age -- it is her authenticity.
Approximately 90% of the yacht remains original, including her hull structure, original interior character, furniture and woodwork. Remarkably, no hull planking has been replaced. The original spirit and craftsmanship of the yacht have therefore been preserved rather than recreated, offering something increasingly rare in today's classic yacht market: genuine provenance and genuine originality.
CLASSIC SOUL. MODERN CAPABILITY. BRUMA has not been frozen in time. Over recent years, significant investment has been made to preserve her character while bringing her systems and equipment up to the standards required for comfortable and reliable modern cruising. The yacht has benefited from a continuous programme of professional maintenance and upgrades, including a major refit covering propulsion, rig, electrical systems, plumbing, navigation, accommodation and onboard comfort.
Among the most significant investments are:
This extensive investment means that BRUMA offers a particularly attractive proposition for the classic-yacht enthusiast: the atmosphere, craftsmanship and authenticity of a mid-century yacht, combined with the systems and equipment necessary for contemporary cruising.
A YACHT WITH A STORY BRUMA was conceived as a family vessel, intended for long, peaceful voyages with family and friends. Throughout her life she has retained that purpose, benefiting from permanent crew and continuous care rather than being left unused or subjected to occasional maintenance. Step aboard and the experience is immediate. The interior retains the atmosphere of the late 1940s, with original woodwork, generous proportions and a distinctly British-inspired layout. The saloon, owner's cabin, guest accommodation and original details create an ambience that simply cannot be reproduced on a modern yacht.
This is not a replica.
This is not a modern yacht styled to look old.
This is the real thing.
AN EXCEPTIONAL CLASSIC WITH A MODERN FUTURE For the discerning owner, BRUMA represents an increasingly rare opportunity to acquire a genuine historic yacht that has been carefully preserved while receiving substantial investment in her mechanical, technical and comfort systems.
Her classic lines, original construction, traditional wooden masts, substantial volume and unique history give her an unmistakable presence. Her modern propulsion, navigation, communications, electrical and domestic systems make her a practical proposition for today's cruising.
BRUMA YCA is more than a classic yacht. She is a piece of maritime heritage -- preserved, invested in and ready for her next chapter. A truly individual yacht for an owner looking for character, history, authenticity and substance.

Designer: Niels Sorensen Viale

NOTES: Eduardo Grimaldi, the shipowner, businessman, and local entrepreneur, commissioned the design of the "BRUMA YCA" in 1947.
The design is clearly inspired by a Nordic Motor Fish Vessel: Mr. Grimaldi didn't commission a yacht with sleek, stylish lines, but rather a safe, robust, comfortable, and capable vessel that combined sailing with a good marine engine for navigating upriver, as well as the ability to adjust its draft, thus maintaining its righting capacity and ensuring safe sailing. The "BRUMA YCA" boasts a purely British layout: it places the crew cabin forward behind the chain locker, with access from the deck and an escape door to the starboard-forward cabin.

ACCOMMODATIONS
NOTES:
Classic British character, generous proportions and an interior that takes you back to the golden age of yachting.
BRUMA YCA features a distinctive traditional British layout, carefully designed around privacy, comfort and practical life on board.
The forward section houses the crew quarters, followed by two spacious double cabins with generous berths, a fully equipped bathroom and the galley. From here, the companionway leads into the heart of the yacht -- the welcoming main saloon, a beautifully preserved family and entertaining space filled with original character and timeless craftsmanship.
Further aft, the yacht offers a particularly distinctive owner's suite extending across the full beam, with two individual berths and its own full bathroom. This original British arrangement reflects the philosophy of the period, where individual berths provided privacy and comfort rather than the large double beds that became common on yachts decades later.
Throughout the interior, original woodwork, traditional materials and period details create an unmistakable atmosphere. Stepping below feels like entering the late 1940s -- an era of understated elegance, quality craftsmanship and beautifully proportioned spaces. The original saloon remains particularly warm and inviting, while the owner's cabin and forward accommodation retain their authentic layout and character.
The bathrooms are equally evocative, with the original Blake porcelain, brass and chrome fittings providing a rare glimpse into classic British yacht construction.
The forward cabins are arranged symmetrically to port and starboard, each with generous berths, traditional furnishings, white enamel finishes and opening portholes providing natural ventilation while at anchor. They share a comfortable and well-appointed bathroom. While the interior naturally reflects the passage of time, it has been carefully maintained and selectively updated over the years, preserving its authentic patina and character rather than attempting to recreate a modern interior.
ACCOMMODATION & COMFORT
A rare opportunity to experience an authentic classic yacht interior -- original in spirit, beautifully proportioned and complemented by the modern comfort required for contemporary cruising.
