FAREAST 28R – One design racing sailboat – pure performance and pleasure
The FAREAST 28R is a modern racing keelboat that synthesizes the expertise and know-how of naval architecture firm Simonis Voogd and Far East Boats.
A monotype racing sailboat, high-performance, well-balanced and accessible, designed to offer maximum sensations without unnecessary complexity.
Despite its modest length, the FAREAST 28R impresses with its performance. Top speeds close to 20 knots are regularly reached both in racing and sport sailing. Fast, lively and extremely enjoyable to helm, it has been approved and recommended in France as well as internationally.
Premium design and racing DNA
The FAREAST 28R adopts the design cues of the best current racing keelboats: reverse bow, sleek lines, wide aft deck and optimized hull for gliding.
The open and spacious cockpit provides ample maneuvering space for the crew, enhancing both racing efficiency and comfort in sportive navigation.
Advanced construction techniques
The hull is made using vacuum-infused sandwich, with foam core and polyester resin, ensuring an excellent balance of lightness and rigidity.
With a displacement of about 1,200 kg and a retractable T-shaped keel (carbon fin and lead bulb), the FAREAST 28R combines stability, performance, and ease of transport and launching.
The boat is perfectly suited for intensive racing programs, while remaining manageable by well-organized amateur crews.
Premium fittings and equipment
The FAREAST 28R is equipped with high-end components from leading brands:
– Selden aluminum rigging (Sweden)
– Harken high-performance fittings (United States)
– Polyester laminate sails (North / equivalent depending on configuration)
The entire system guarantees consistent performance, high reliability, and excellent longevity, even under intensive use.
International recognition
The FAREAST 28R has been showcased and acclaimed at numerous international boat shows, including Düsseldorf, Helsinki, Stockholm and Amsterdam.
It is also involved in international events and enjoys strong recognition among racers and clubs.
