DESCRIPTION:
LA GAILLARDE: classic boat designed for fast, comfortable, and safe cruising, by ABEKING and RASMUSSEN in 1939. Perfectly maintained by successive owners (6) by renowned shipyards (Campers & Nicholson, Fernand Hervé…), skilled in woodworking.
Operable by a crew of 2, LA GAILLARDE has 6 berths divided into 2 double cabins + 2 additional berths in the saloon, with all the comforts of a modern boat.
Member of the Classic Yacht Club, La GAILLARDE navigates approximately 3000 miles annually, in its sailing area from Portugal to Ireland and England. Its recent and rich sail plan (15 sails), revised annually, allows it to sail in all weather conditions.
Constructed with massive unglued teak, on bent oak frames, riveted with copper, always fully varnished and regularly inspected (keel bolts replaced, rivetings redone in 2016, deck and superstructure redone in 2012). Masts and riggings revised in 2019. All interior arrangements and equipment (engine, electronics, comfort elements, ...) redone in 2016.
Heritage Boat (BIP - Heritage Interest Boat – see site https://www.patrimoine-maritime-fluvial.org/navires-du-patrimoine/navires-bip-search/la-gaillarde/), she is eligible for "Monument historique" classification if the new owner wishes (this classification offers certain financial advantages - port spots, maintenance work, access to privileged areas, ...). She has a year-round berth at the Maritime Museum port of La Rochelle under specific financial conditions.
