Beneateau Oceanis 411 Clipper Performance: The autonomous offshore cruiser, made for long crossings
Designed by the famous Finot-Conq architecture firm, the Oceanis 411 Clipper is one of the shipyard's biggest success stories, known for its perfect balance between onboard comfort and seakeeping qualities. This unit stands out in particular for its rare "Performance" version: fitted with a deep draft (2.00 m bulb keel), it provides better sail rigidity and a formidable upwind heading. Offered in the most sought-after owners' configuration (3 double cabins and 2 bathrooms), it delivers superb storage volumes and generous living space, without ever having to face the hassles of rentals.
The technical setup and the onboard wardrobe of this sailing yacht have been designed with performance and offshore safety in mind. It features a recent and very comprehensive Quantum sail inventory (2021), including a Full-Batten mainsail, a furling genoa, a gennaker, as well as a very reassuring Selden roller furling jib stored in an inner compartment. To reduce the workload for the crew during long ocean crossings, the vessel is equipped with a formidable Hydrovane wind vane self-steering system, which also acts as an absolute emergency rudder. The whole setup is protected by a bimini and a lowering hood (2021); the current lazy bag is worn and will need to be replaced.
Where this Oceanis 411 truly stands out is in its exceptional level of investment (over 60,000) dedicated to total autonomy. Energy is abundant thanks to a sturdy stainless-steel arch supporting 400 W of Sunpower solar panels, coupled with a wind turbine and a Watt&Sea 300 hydrogenerator. This cutting-edge system powers a recent 300 Ah (2021) Lithium LiFePO4 service battery bank, managed by a Victron network with a powerful 2000 W inverter providing permanent 220V onboard. Water independence is ensured by a 30 L/h Aquabase 12V watermaker desalination unit, capable of running on solar energy alone. As for communications, long-distance travelers will appreciate the Icom BLU with Pactor 3 modem for receiving weather files (GRIB) in the middle of the Atlantic. Finally, the vessel is equipped with robust davits for a Kapa Tender Hypalon dinghy and its 9.8 hp Tohatsu outboard engine.
Inside, the saloon, dressed in warm wood paneling, offers an outstanding level of comfort. The large U-shaped settee faces a fully equipped long galley: double sink, stove with oven, seawater foot pump, and a Frigoboat refrigerator. The luxurious forward owner cabin features its own private bathroom. To ensure complete peace of mind and meet the requirements of maritime experts, a major preventive yard job was carried out in July 2024: all through-hulls and valves of the boat were replaced with high-end composite TruDesign equipment, resistant to corrosion and electrolysis.
Mechanical side: the robust Volvo Penta D2-55 55 hp engine shows exceptionally rigorous maintenance. All sensitive peripheral components have all been replaced preventively: new stainless-steel exhaust elbow and heat exchanger (2021), freshwater pump (2024), hydrolube bushing and stuffing box (late 2024), and starter motor (2025). With its extremely reliable machinery and incredible equipment level, this 2002 Oceanis 411 Performance is a rare opportunity on the market, ready to set sail tomorrow for the Caribbean or a round-the-world voyage.
