CONSTRUCTION
Keel: lead
KEEL: the keel is non-removable, welded to the hull from factory.
HULL: fiberglass. The hull has been insulated with 70mm fire-retardant expanded polystyrene. The interior is mainly marine plywood, lighter than usual, with a 2mm fire-resistant layer beneath the deck. Each panel is a sandwich with polystyrene between the panels (due to a -31°C winter in Riga, enabling work thanks to insulation). As a result, the boat is very warm in winter and not too hot in summer (over 30°C). The hull is painted with polyurethane paint. Underwater, it has a special zinc primer with antifouling agent (Trilux 33); this combination is highly recommended according to International standards.
OWNER'S NOTES ABOUT THE HULL:
The boat has been ashore for the last 20 years without electricity or water, so the hull remains in like-new condition, with no signs of corrosion. Inspection welcome anytime.
Deck: 4.5mm
Freeboards: 6mm
Below waterline: 11.7mm
Keel plate: unknown but very solid
Main stringers: 30mm SOLID
Secondary stringers: 8mm
Crossed stringers: 6mm
Insulation: When the boat was put back ashore in Riga for refit, the hull was insulated with 100mm flame-retardant expanded polystyrene (Dow Styrofoam XPS), as it was understood from the start that the boat needed to be safe. Certified.
