Chantier Naval Biot Trireme 50

The ketch MAYA ZEN is a very beautiful high-seas cruising vessel with a steel hull built in 1983 by the "CHANTIERS NAVALS DE BIOT" shipyard based on the plans of naval architect François CHARPENTIER, who is notably known for designing the TRIREME series of sailboats ranging from 43 to 60 feet.

It is a boat designed for comfort while sailing and livability at anchor, with evident sturdiness. The triple chine hull is made of welded steel plates on T-frames. The plate thickness is 3mm for the deck, 4mm for the upper chine, 5mm for the intermediate chine, and 6mm for the bottom Chine.

The hollow keel is partially filled with lead and also serves as a diesel tank above.

The hull and deck have been sandblasted internally and externally to SA3 standards from the beginning, followed by the INTERNATIONAL protective treatment cycle based on epoxy paint.

The interior arrangements are particularly well designed for navigation, with open living spaces, independent private areas, a chart table, accessible kitchen, and passages that allow easy circulation. The joinery, varnishes, and planking are in very good condition.

As you can understand, MAYA ZEN is a very beautiful vessel that is well equipped for sailing, with its main strengths being robustness, livability, and quality of fittings, especially the joinery. This boat is intended for long-distance voyages with complete autonomy. Therefore, these "marine style" rather than "pleasure craft" units are less affected by fashion trends and consequently less prone to depreciation.

The reliability of the construction by "CHANTIER NAVAL DE BIOT" and the protective treatment of the metal structure carried out by the owner initially are of a quality rarely found in units of the same type.
