The Dehler 38 CWS is a cruiser-racer sailboat, designed by naval architect Van de Stadt and built by the German shipyard Dehler, starting from 1987.

The acronym CWS stands for Central Winch System, an ingenious centralized winch system allowing sails to be handled from a central point, greatly facilitating single-handed sailing or sailing with a reduced crew.

The sailboat has 3 cabins and can accommodate up to 8 people thanks to well-arranged berths.

• Salon: V-shaped table with extensions, removable, seating up to 10 people. Benches convert into berths. Insulated from the engine space, practical access.


• L-shaped galley: Double sink with hot/cold water, electric refrigerator, 3-burner stove with oven (added in 2020), practical storage space.


• Heads and bathrooms: 2 heads with toilets, one on each aft quarter, one including a shower. Folding sinks, storage, hanging locker, etc.


• Headroom below beams: approx. 1.90 m, comfortable for most sailors.

Performance and sailing experience

• The classic Van de Stadt hull, combined with the sail plan center and an efficient rig, makes the 38 CWS an excellent upwind sailboat and performant downwind.
