FAREAST 23R – modern sportboat – club racing & training – Simonis Voogd
The FAREAST 23R is the newest addition to the FAREAST R-Line (Racing) range.
Designed by Simonis Voogd, it was created to meet a clear need: a fast, modern, and accessible boat for clubs, training, and racing, without unnecessary complexity.
Inspired directly by its big sister, the FAREAST 28R, the 23R shares the same sleek lines and performance DNA, in a more compact format, easier to trailer, launch, and operate daily.
With its characteristic reverse bow and wide transom, the FAREAST 23R is very effective upwind and becomes particularly lively downwind. In steady conditions, speeds in the mid-teens are common.
The deck layout was designed to remain simple, ergonomic, and efficient. The boat can be operated by crews of various sizes, from racing clubs and schools to passionate amateurs. It positions itself clearly as a "Grand Prix" type within its category, while remaining healthy and non-intimidating.
The hull offers an excellent compromise between stability and gliding, with a generous ballast ratio of 44%, high shape stability, and reduced wetted surface.
The absence of a backstay allows for a very modern rig: square-headed mainsail, large forward triangle, without runners or complex maneuvers to handle when tacking. The boat emphasizes simplicity and sailing enjoyment.
Built and designed to Far East Boats quality standards, the FAREAST 23R is a reliable, robust, and durable boat, ideally suited for intensive club use as well as racing.
