OPTIMIST was born in 1947 when a group of parents suggested to the famous naval designer Mr. Clark Mills to design a sailboat for children to enhance their leisure time. This boat is small, single-seater, and easy to learn, just like sailing karts. The main feature of an OPTIMIST sailboat is that it brings happiness to children and helps build good character.

Today, in more than 100 countries worldwide, 1,500,000 young people and children train and have fun with this type of boat. Nearly 80% of sailing enthusiasts make it their first sailboat. Many children have realized their sailing dreams thanks to it.

More than 85% of Olympic champions started their training careers with an OPTIMIST, which is a very high proportion. The OPTIMIST produced by Far East Boats ranks among the top three in terms of quality and quantity. FAREAST has always been a supplier of professional equipment at the China National Games from 2005 to 2009, the 2009 Asian Championships, the 2010 South American Championships, the 2011 Guangzhou Asian Games, and the World Championships from 2010 to 2012.
