"This Hatteras 53 was built by the Hatteras shipyard in 1979 and launched in 1980. It is very livable and spacious. It is ideal as a second home on the water. Solid mahogany interior woodwork. Very large flybridge, all sun loungers are new. Teak swim platform.
Main characteristics: aft cabin motor yachts. The 53’ is the most successful medium-sized motor yacht ever built by the Hatteras shipyard, with over 600 units produced in various configurations and layouts from 1971 to 1989. This classic motor yacht owes its great popularity to its excellent craftsmanship, spacious layout, and sailing qualities.
Its layouts are spacious, and its two Detroit 8V71 TI engines (turbocharged diesel engines with intercooler producing 2 X 420 HP), reliable and robust, make it an ideal yacht for extended cruising or very comfortable living aboard. You will be amazed inside by the mahogany woodwork and its original equipment.
The interior of the vessel at deck level is arranged with a pilothouse forward and a salon aft. The aft deck is accessible by varnished wood and glass swinging doors located behind the salon. A curved teak staircase, starboard forward of the pilothouse, leads to a custom kitchen area. Forward and below the kitchen is the forward cabin with two single bunk beds and a storage closet to starboard prepared to accommodate a washing machine, as well as a shelf and the toilet to port. Aft and below the kitchen, a longitudinal corridor extends aft between the engine rooms, with the guest cabin configured with two single beds side by side and a storage closet to port. To starboard are the guest toilets. The corridor ends at the master cabin, arranged with a queen-size island double bed located in the middle, the toilet forward and to starboard. The engine rooms are located to port and starboard next to the corridor.
The main salon and the pilothouse are easily accessible either through the varnished teak swinging doors from the aft deck or through the pilothouse area forward via the port and starboard sliding doors on the side decks leading to the bow.
Entering the spacious solid mahogany salon, you will immediately be impressed by the beautiful woodwork and natural light thanks to 360 degrees of windows (port, starboard, forward, and aft). Two large sofas/lounge to port and a convertible sofa bed to starboard.
The pilothouse is forward and open to the main salon on the same level: central helm station with full engine controls, gauges, and electronics. Starboard side entry to the curved teak staircase leading to the kitchen and the lower deck with the (3) cabins and bathrooms, as well as the engine room.
Cabins: the spacious master cabin is aft and at the bottom of the lower deck staircase and includes the following: king-size island double bed located transversely against the port side with storage drawers underneath and a dressing table. Master suite bathroom. Large midship guest cabin with two twin beds side by side, bathroom located to port opposite the guest cabin midship. Forward of the kitchen area is another guest cabin with 2 single bunk beds to starboard, private entrance to the adjoining forward guest bathroom.
