RARE! This habitable barge built in 1928 by Chantier des Deux Saintes, with a length of 39 meters and a width of 5 meters, is located between Reims and Soissons in Aisne (02).
The barge has the unique feature of the sailor’s accommodation at the center, in its original oak condition. Only 2 or 3 boats of this model remain. It has two separate holds.
The entrance is through the forward hold, converted into a livable apartment: a 50 m² living room including a fitted kitchen with appliances (electric cooktop, fridge-freezer, washing machine, and dishwasher), and a lounge area. A wood stove (France Turbo) installed in 2011 heats the entire space.
An electric and economical heating system (2004), which can also serve as air conditioning, is installed as well. Brightness is provided by polished brass round portholes and a skylight (to be replaced? leak during storms).
The bow is separated from the kitchen by a watertight door and is arranged as a pantry and wood storage.
A 10m² cabin with a porthole (same model), heated by either the wood stove or the reverse cycle air conditioning system (see main room).
A bathroom (10m²) with bathtub and shower (to be replaced), a dressing room, and a porthole.
Continuing, the captain’s cabin (work to be done, especially insulation) (also with independent exterior access), in its original oak, with an original wardrobe bed (view outside), a central room that can serve as an office/library. Two windows at the back. Possibility to install a wood stove.
Below the living quarters: an insulated and closed technical room, including a 150-liter electric hot water cylinder, a 1000-liter water tank, and a wastewater treatment tank. Possibility to install the washing machine; water inlet and outlet planned. A black water treatment system remains to be installed.
An empty hold (about 50m²) remains to be converted (insulation, electrical, creation of a bathroom?). Many possibilities, polished brass round portholes installed, floors laid. Ideal for conversion into an additional bedroom, guest rooms, or independent apartment.
The barge also features a pilot house with the steering station, and the sailor’s apartment in its original condition (work required, especially insulation), with direct access from the hold to be converted.
A very accessible 40m² wooden terrace is installed above the converted apartment.

The community fee is valid until August 6, 2024. The ten-year inspection will need to be scheduled and covered by the buyer.
The bottom of the barge was reinforced in 2004, with sheet metal refurbishment on port and starboard sides in 2014.
To be addressed: exterior paint, replacement of the living room’s glazed screen, the current bathroom shower to be replaced, insulation of the central cabin, completion of the second hold, creation of another bathroom, installation of a black water treatment system, renovation of the sailor’s cabin and the pilot house.

This barge was purchased in 2009, and €80,000 of maintenance work has been carried out since.
