The Italian manufacturer Sessa Marine offers a very diverse range with boats ranging from the 5.75-meter open to the luxurious 21-meter yacht. It also has a wide range of sun decks called Key Largo, except for the One – the smallest of all – which is a classic open. In recent years, Sessa has offered some of these models in both inboard and outboard versions, such as the Key Largo 34 which we had the opportunity to take command of off the port of Varazze in Italy, near the French border. Moored at the dock, this impressive 10-meter-long sun deck reveals beautiful curves.
This boat – like all other models in the range – was designed by the very famous designer Christian Grande. The Key Largo 34 displays a very successful line, both harmonious, fluid, and contemporary. The function of this imposing 10-meter-long sun deck is undeniably Mediterranean. The Key Largo 34 features two distinct living areas, the foredeck and the cockpit. The huge sunbathing area at the front is dedicated to relaxation and long sunbathing sessions. It is accessible via two wide side decks secured by a railing.
Very friendly spaces
As for the cockpit, it is mainly reserved for meals and picnics with family or friends, thanks to the large L-shaped bench that allows many guests to sit around the beautiful teak table. This table can be folded in half to take up less space, or lowered to form a second sunbathing area. Like most boats, the seats hide large storage lockers. The thick leaning post seats the pilot and co-pilot and houses an outdoor kitchen equipped as standard with a sink, a cutting board, ample storage, and optionally a refrigerator and a stove. While the relaxation areas have been well designed, the helm station received special attention.
Comfort is excellent, the instrumentation is well positioned, the steering wheel is adjustable, and the throttle controls fall well to hand when standing; however, when the pilot is seated at the back of the comfortable bucket seat, the wheel is a bit far. The space reserved for the GPS is ideally located, which facilitates readability. Although the Key Largo 34 is a fantastic day boat, it can also perfectly adapt to cruising programs thanks to a welcoming and warm interior that consists of a forward U-shaped saloon convertible into a double berth, a beautiful mid-cabin, and an independent toilet compartment. The very flattering and refined interior décor is made of fine wood and light fabrics.
A rather rich standard equipment
The long hull panels, which offer an unobstructed view of the sea from the forward cabin while bringing plenty of natural light, are also appreciated. The mid-cabin is equipped with two single berths that can be complemented by a central mattress to form a double bed. As for the toilet compartment, it is equipped with a sink, a shower, and electric marine toilet coupled with a black water tank.
