The Italian manufacturer Sessa Marine offers a very diverse range with boats ranging from the 5.75-meter open to the luxurious 21-meter yacht. It also features a wide range of sun decks called Key Largo, except for the One – the smallest of all – which is a classic open. For several years, Sessa has been offering some of these models in inboard and outboard versions, such as the Key Largo 34, which we had the opportunity to operate off the coast of Varazze, Italy, near the French border. Docked at the quay, this impressive 10-meter-long sun deck reveals elegant curves.
This boat – like all other models in the range – was designed by the renowned designer Christian Grande. The Key Largo 34 boasts a very successful design: harmonious, fluid, and contemporary. The primary purpose of this imposing 10-meter-long sun deck is undeniably Mediterranean. The Key Largo 34 features two distinct living spaces: the bow and the cockpit. The large fore sun pad is dedicated to lounging and sunny sessions. It is accessible via two wide walkways secured by a stainless steel railing.
Very convivial spaces
As for the cockpit, it is mainly reserved for dining and picnics with family or friends, thanks to the large L-shaped bench that can seat multiple guests around the beautiful teak table. This table can fold in half for space-saving or be lowered to form a second sunpad. Like most boats, the seating areas include large storage lockers. The thick leaning-post accommodates the captain and co-pilot, with an outdoor kitchen equipped as standard with a sink, cutting board, ample storage, and optionally a refrigerator and stove. While the relaxation areas are well-designed, the helm station has been given special attention.
The comfort is excellent, instrumentation has well-chosen locations, the steering wheel is adjustable, and throttle controls are easily accessible when standing; however, when the driver is seated in the comfortable bucket seat, the wheel is slightly far. The GPS display area is ideally located for easy readability. Although the Key Largo 34 is an ideal boat for day trips, it can also serve well for cruising with a warm and welcoming cabin, including a U-shaped forward saloon convertible into a double berth, a very nice mid-cabin, and an independent bathroom. The interior decor, stylish and refined, features noble wood and light fabrics.
