The Italian manufacturer Sessa Marine offers a very diverse range of boats from a 5.75-meter open to the luxurious 21-meter yacht. It also features a wide range of sun decks called Key Largo, except for the One – the smallest of all – which is a classic open. For several years, Sessa has been offering some of these models in inboard and outboard versions, such as the Key Largo 34 which we had the opportunity to test offshore from the port of Varazze in Italy, near the French border. Docked at the pier, this impressive 10-meter-long sun deck reveals elegant curves.
This boat – like all other models in the range – was designed by the renowned designer Christian Grande. The Key Largo 34 has a very successful design that is harmonious, fluid, and contemporary. The program of this impressive 10-meter-long sun deck is undeniably Mediterranean. The Key Largo 34 features two distinct living spaces, the bow area and the cockpit. The large forward sun pad is dedicated to lounging and long sunny sessions. It is accessible via two wide gangways secured by a handrail.
Very convivial spaces
As for the cockpit, it is mainly reserved for meals and picnics with family or friends, thanks to the large L-shaped bench that accommodates many guests around the beautiful teak table. This table can fold in half to save space or be lowered to form a second sun pad. As on most boats, the seating contains large storage compartments. The thick leaning-post houses the helm and co-pilot seats, and also includes an exterior kitchen equipped as standard with a sink, a cutting board, ample storage, and optionally a refrigerator and a stove. While the relaxation areas are thoughtfully designed, the helm station has received special attention.
The comfort is excellent, instrumentation is well placed, the steering wheel is adjustable, and the throttle controls are ergonomically located for standing operation; however, when the pilot is seated at the comfortable bucket seat, the steering wheel may feel a bit far. The GPS area is ideally located for ease of reading. Although the Key Largo 34 is an excellent boat for day trips, it also adapts well to cruising with a cozy and inviting interior, including a U-shaped forward dinette convertible into a double berth, a beautiful mid-cabin, and a separate toilet. The interior decor, very tasteful and refined, is made of noble wood and light fabrics.
Standard equipment is quite luxurious
The long hull sides, offering stunning sea views from the forward cabin and plenty of natural light, are also appreciated. The mid-cabin has two single berths that can be combined with a central mattress to form a double bed. The toilet is equipped with a sink, a handheld showerhead, and electric marine toilets with a black water tank.
