Description

Standfast 50: the elegance of high Dutch luxury sailing, built for offshore voyages

Designed by the renowned architect Frans Maas and constructed by the prestigious Dutch shipyard Standfast Yachts, this Standfast 50 embodies the pinnacle of high sea cruising yachts. Crafted to withstand the most demanding seas with remarkable passage comfort, this twenty-tonne sailing yacht features a build quality and joinery craftsmanship that are exceptionally rare, far beyond current mass-production standards. This vessel has an outstanding pedigree: it is a second-hand boat preserved by its current owner since 1999, with its first owner being a co-owner of the Standfast yard itself. Its layout offers three comfortable cabins and two heads with black water tanks, centered around a spacious, warm saloon finished with noble woods.

On deck, ergonomics prioritize safety with a deeply protected central cockpit surrounded by a traditional teak deck in excellent condition. Regarding rigging, the mast has undergone a major overhaul including removal, complete repainting, replacement of standing rigging, and full rewiring of electrical and hydraulic circuits. Designed for ease of handling with a reduced crew, the sail plan includes hydraulic rollers for the mainsail, genoa, and staysail, assisted by a set of seven winches at the cockpit, including two powerful hydraulic winches for sheet handling. An adjustable backstay, a spinnaker pole, and a complete spinnaker rig complete an offshore-ready deck equipment.

The technical installation has been recently modernized to ensure reliable operation. The battery bank was entirely replaced in June 2025 with three service batteries (nearly 450 Ah total) and a 180 Ah engine battery, coupled with a dedicated hydraulic circuit battery. The whole system is managed by a modern Victron Energy charger with Bluetooth connectivity installed in 2024. For maneuvering and anchoring, the yacht is equipped with a revisited electric windlass with main and secondary mooring lines, inox stern bitts, a gangway, and a dinghy. Navigation relies on a comprehensive central system with radar, GPS chartplotter, Raymarine autopilot with remote control, VHF with AIS transmitter and receiver, and Navtex.

Inside, the volumes are designed for extended voyages with full autonomy. The spacious owner’s aft cabin offers an intimate comfort with a private head, while the forward cabin and bunk beds comfortably accommodate five people. The amidships galley is safe for navigation, equipped with a double stainless steel sink, a stove with oven, a refrigerator, and an impressive 1,000-litre freshwater reserve. The well-maintained linings, patinated woodwork, and recent interior curtains highlight the care given to onboard living.

Mechanical aspects include a Volvo Penta TMD31A Turbo engine of 100 hp with a shaft line. This engine has been thoroughly serviced thanks to major technical investments: the heat exchanger, turbocharger, and reverser were completely overhauled in 2024-2025, on an already refurbished shaft line and silentblocs. Shown dry-docked in Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône, this characterful vessel presents a great opportunity for marine sailing enthusiasts seeking a robust and distinctive yacht, ready for long-term cruising plans.
