Following the great success of the Solaris 47, 48, and 50, it was necessary to consider possible improvements. Solaris Yachts and Javier Soto Acebal concluded that increasing and moving the beam aft was essential to equip the new 50' with two rudders. Tacking in a breeze thus becomes child's play.
This new aft volume is also used to create a watertight tender garage, elongated for longitudinal storage, which is rare on a vessel of this size.
The placement of the helm stations has also been optimized: being moved back and apart, the helmsman has a better field of vision, despite the potential overhead cover of the dodger.
It was important to pamper delicate helmsmen on a racer with such a good weight-to-power ratio! Especially considering that with a Weldox keel and a carbon mast, there is plenty of potential for impressive performance…
The vacuum infusion sandwich construction, the structural composite bulkheads molded in one piece to the hull and deck, and the highly rigorous keel fixing method all contribute to the rigidity, robustness, and unparalleled weight efficiency that solidify Solaris Yachts' reputation.
